Job Title: Placement Officer.

Location: Baidoa, Somalia

Reports to: Project Manager.

Contract Duration: 12 months, renewable based on performance and funding. Position

Position Overview:

The Placement Officer will support the implementation of youth employability and livelihood programs by building strong linkages between trainees and the private sector, local businesses, and public institutions. The role aims to ensure that beneficiaries, especially graduates of vocational and skill-based training, are connected to meaningful employment or self-employment opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

Job Placement and Market Linkage

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with private sector actors, government departments, and other employment service providers.

  • Identify potential job opportunities, internships, and apprenticeships for program beneficiaries.

  • Organize career fairs, job-matching events, and business networking activities.

  • Support beneficiaries in CV writing, interview preparation, and soft skills development.

Beneficiary Support

  • Conduct follow-up visits to placed beneficiaries and provide coaching/mentorship as needed.

  • Collect and analyze feedback from employers and beneficiaries to improve placement outcomes.

  • Monitor the progress and retention of placed candidates.

Database Management and Reporting

  • Maintain an up-to-date database of employers and placed beneficiaries.

  • Track placement statistics, employment outcomes, and income generation activities.

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly progress reports, including success stories and case studies.

Community Engagement and Visibility

  • Engage communities and local leaders to promote vocational and placement programs.

  • Promote awareness of job placement services among youth and training graduates.

  • Support visibility and communication efforts related to placement success and project milestones.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Development Studies, or related field.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in youth employment, livelihoods, career counseling, or related field.

  • Proven experience working with the private sector and establishing partnerships.

  • Familiarity with the socio-economic context of Baidoa and the South West State is preferred.

  • Proficiency in Somali (Maay and/or Maxaatiri) is essential; English is an asset.
