Job Title: Project Officer
Location: Baidoa, Somalia
Reports to: Project Manager.
Contract Duration: 12 months, renewable based on performance and funding.
Position Type: Full-time
Position Overview:
The Project Officer will be responsible for coordinating and implementing project activities in Baidoa and surrounding areas. This includes supporting planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting of project components in line with donor requirements and organizational standards. The role involves close collaboration with local authorities, community members, and partner organizations to ensure effective delivery and impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the development of detailed implementation plans and ensure timely delivery of project activities
Supervise field-level activities and ensure quality standards are met.
Mobilize and coordinate with communities, local leaders, and stakeholders.
Ensure adherence to project targets, objectives, timelines, and budgets.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
Collect and verify field data, maintain accurate records, and submit timely reports.
Participate in needs assessments, baseline, midline, and end-line surveys.
Support the M&E team in monitoring project performance indicators.
Document lessons learned, success stories, and challenges.
Coordination and Representation
Represent the organization in relevant local coordination forums and meetings in Baidoa.
Build and maintain positive working relationships with local authorities and other stakeholders
Ensure community engagement and accountability mechanisms are in place.
Logistics and Finance
Assist with procurement planning and follow-up for project activities
Monitor activity budgets and ensure cost-effective use of resources
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.
Minimum 4–5 years of experience in a similar role with an NGO or humanitarian agency.
Strong understanding of humanitarian/development work, particularly in South West State (Baidoa).
Knowledge of the local context and ability to speak Somali (Maay and Maxaatiri) is a strong asset.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong coordination, communication, and facilitation skills.
Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Computer proficiency (MS Office, especially Excel and Word).
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Team player with high integrity and accountability.
