BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

The Storekeeper is responsible for the effective management of WFP’s warehouse operations in Garowe Area Office, ensuring the safe

receipt, storage, dispatch, and tracking of food and non-food commodities in compliance with WFP standards and procedures.

Under the direct supervision of the National Logistics Officer of Garowe AO and the overall supervision of the Head of Area Office, the

incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, within delegated authority)

• Receive, dispatch, and tranship commodities against approved documentation (e.g., waybills, delivery notes), ensuring accurate physical

counts, quality checks, and proper recordkeeping.

• Conduct daily reconciliations, maintain stack cards and ledger books, verify inventory accuracy, and report discrepancies or losses with

recommendations for corrective action.

• Monitor warehouse conditions and implement preventive measures to safeguard commodities, ensuring optimal space utilization and

adherence to WFP storage protocols.

• Supervise loading of dispatches, issue and confirm waybills in LESS (Last Mile), ensure trucks are fitted with tracking devices, and monitor vehicle movements via Novacom, reporting daily to the Country Office focal point.

• Coordinate with warehouse managing contractors on bag/carton coding, machine maintenance, and ink replenishment, ensuring operational readiness and compliance with WFP standards.

• Provide training and guidance to warehouse staff, including contractor personnel, cooperating partners (CPs) and government partners

to build capacity and ensure consistent performance aligned with WFP procedures.

• Prepare and submit timely reports on commodity movements, warehouse conditions, and transport activities, and respond to issues

requiring supervisory attention.

• Undertake regular supportive supervision spot checks to CPs and follow up on the implementation of agreed improvement plans to

ensure compliance with WFP operational standards.

• Perform any other duties as assigned to support logistics and warehouse operations within the Area Office.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education: Completion of secondary school education OR University degree (Diploma/Bachelor) in Warehouse Management, Inventory

Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience: At least four (4) years of relevant work experience with a Secondary School Certificate, OR a university degree

(Diploma/Bachelor’s) with a minimum of two (2) or more years of relevant experience in storekeeping, warehouse operations,

inventory management, logistics, or supply chain management.

Language: Fluency (level C) in English language and Somali Language.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation, including stack cards, ledger books, and transport documents.

• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and report discrepancies or losses.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and supervise warehouse staff and contractors.

• Capacity to work independently and under pressure in field-based and remote environments
