Job Description

A Teller is the front-line representative of Wadaag Bank, responsible for providing efficient in handling cash transactions, deposits, withdrawals, cheque clearing, account inquiries, and related financial services. The role ensures excellent customer experience and compliance with banking policies.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Cash Handling & Customer Transactions

  • Process customer deposits, withdrawals, and cash payments accurately and efficiently.

  • Handle cheques, drafts, and cashiers' orders in compliance with bank procedures.

  • Issue account statements, balance inquiries, and transaction confirmations.

  • Maintain sufficient cash limits at the teller counter and perform end-of-day balancing.

  • Welcome customers courteously and respond to their banking needs professionally.

  • Provide guidance on bank products and services (saving accounts, current accounts, investment account and digital banking).

  • Prevent fraud, forgery, counterfeit currency, and unauthorized transactions.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of customer information.

Operational Controls

  • Balance daily cash drawer and report any discrepancies immediately.

  • Maintain accurate transaction records and submit reports to the Head of Tellers.

  • Ensure proper documentation for all transactions.

  • Operate the core banking system efficiently and accurately.

  • Use cash counting machines, counterfeit detectors and other necessary equipment.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Degree in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Basic training in Islamic banking is an added advantage.

Experience

  • At least 1–2 years experience in cash handling, banking operations, or customer service.

  • Experience in a financial institution is highly desirable.

  • Strong numerical and cash-handling skills.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

  • High accuracy, attention to detail, and integrity.

  • Good computer skills and ability to use core banking systems.

  • Ability to work under pressure and handle high transaction volumes.

  • Well-organized and disciplined.
