Skills and qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS / SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE/ COMPETENCIES (CORE/TECHNICAL/FUNCTIONAL) / LANGUAGE SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE ASSIGNMENT  

Education:

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in human rights, law, international law, public policy, governance, international development, public administration, or another relevant field.

Work Experience:

• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in human rights, child protection, governance, or rule of law.

• Minimum 6 years of programme management experience, preferably in Somalia and in human rights.

• Proven experience coordinating multi-stakeholder programs with the UN, government, civil society, and donors.

• Work experience in working with the Ministry of Women and Human Rights Development and other ministries on Human Rights and Child Protec􀆟on in Somalia is an asset.

Language Requirements:

• English and Somali

Knowledge/Expertise/Skills:

• Strong knowledge of human rights-based programming, child rights, gender equality, and Leaving No One Behind (LNOB) principles.

• Experience in results-based management, work planning, budget tracking, risk management and donor reporting.

• Experience with UN joint programmes, pooled funds or SJF/MPTF-funded programmes is an asset.

• Strong understanding of Somalia’s human rights, governance and federal-state context is highly desirable. Excellent drafting, analytical, coordination, and communication skills
