Job description
Background
The Building Leadership and Opportunities for Marginalized Women and Girls (BLOOM) supports the empowerment of marginalized young people, particularly young women and adolescent girls with limited access to education and employment, to grow their skills, confidence, and economic independence through vocational training, entrepreneurship, mentorship, and dignified work. BLOOM is in the process of designing a logo to represent the project across the three participating countries: Somaliland, Tanzania, and Rwanda.
This visual identity will reflect BLOOM’s mission to strengthen economic inclusion for women and girls’ economic empowerment through leadership development, self-advocacy, and access to vocational skills and livelihood opportunities. The logo will serve as a unifying visual identity for the youth movement, strengthening recognition, fostering a sense of ownership among participants, and supporting consistent communication across activities while remaining fully aligned with World Vision and Global Affairs Canada (GAC) branding requirements.
This document outlines the official requirements and rules for the logo design competition. By entering the competition, participants agree to be bound by these rules.
Design Guidelines and Requirements
The branding logo should reflect the heart of BLOOM’s design: inclusion and gender equality, growth, resilience, opportunity, shifting attitudes and beliefs, and the journey from potential to productivity.
The logo should symbolize transformation and aspiration, capturing as many of the following ideas as possible:
Economic empowerment and self-reliance
Gender inclusion and equal opportunity
Growth and new beginnings
Skills development and hands-on learning
Positive community support and mentorship
Hope, confidence, and forward movement
The logo should communicate the excitement of starting new pathways toward sustainable livelihoods, where young people have the opportunity to learn, thrive, and contribute meaningfully to their community.
The final product (logo) may be featured on official project materials, including communication products, the project website, training materials, and at events. It may also be used on promotional and visibility items such as shirts, banners, stickers, and other branded merchandise produced under the project.
The logo must be clearly distinguishable from World Vision branding used across the three Field Offices and from Global Affairs Canada (GAC) branding. It must not create confusion, suggest affiliation or institutional representation, or compete with existing organizational branding, and must comply with the branding requirements outlined in the Contribution Agreement.
Eligibility Criteria
The logo design contest is exclusively open to BLOOM-enrolled youth aged 15–24 residing in Somaliland, Tanzania, and Rwanda. Participation is limited to eligible BLOOM participants and is not open to the general public. Targeted efforts will be made to ensure that adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) are informed about the competition and are actively and strongly encouraged to participate.
Submission Guideline and How to enter
· The contest is open from 29th June to 11th July 2026.
· Participants must submit a brief 'Design Statement' of maximum 200 words explaining how their logo represents the themes of growth, inclusion, and resilience.

Avoid gradients, excessive detailing, and half-tones to ensure clarity and versatility.
The design should remain visually strong, legible, and recognizable at both small and large scales.

Selection Process and Evaluation Criteria
First level: Country-level selection
Each Field Office (FO) will constitute a national selection panel to review eligible submissions and shortlist entries. Youth participants in each country (Somaliland, Tanzania, and Rwanda) will then vote on the shortlisted designs to select one top design per country. This stage ensures both technical review and meaningful youth participation in the selection process.
Second level: Inter-country selection
The three country-level winning designs will then be submitted to a World Vision inter-country selection panel. This panel will review the submissions and determine the overall winning logo based on the agreed evaluation criteria, branding requirements, and technical suitability for application.
Submissions will be assessed based on their relevance to the BLOOM theme (30%), including how well the design reflects youth engagement, inclusion, and positive social change. Particular consideration will be given to creativity and originality (25%) of the concept, as well as the clarity and simplicity (20%) of the design in effectively communicating its intended message without unnecessary complexity. The overall visual impact and memorability of the logo (15%) will also be an important factor in the evaluation process.
Intellectual Property
By submitting an entry, participants confirm that their design is their original work and does not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any third party. World Vision will own Intellectual Property rights, and the youth reserve the right to use for promotional materials as relevant BLOOM reserves the right to adjust, resize, or edit the design to meet technical branding requirements or donor compliance.
Award and Recognition
The winning design will be adopted as the official logo of the BLOOM initiative and used across relevant communication and visibility materials, subject to World Vision and GAC branding and visibility requirements.
